TOP 10 ATTACKS

Police statistics reveal the following as the top ten street attacks in the UK:
  • Aggressor threatens potential victim and invades his personal space. The victim responds by pushing the aggressor away. This is normally followed by the Aggressor striking first, to the head.

  • A swinging punch to the head.

  • A front clothing grab, one handed, followed by punch to the head.

  • A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a head butt.

  • A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a knee to the groin.

  • A bottle, glass, or ashtray to the head.

  • A lashing kick to groin/lower legs.

  • A broken bottle/glass jabbed to face.

  • A slash with knife, most commonly a 3" to 4" lock blade knife or kitchen utility knife.

  • A grappling style head lock.

The ability to deal with these situations is the first thing we teach new students.

The core syllabus also contains a range of techniques applicable to female self-defence, grappling (stand-up and on the ground), fighting/sparring techniques and weapons defences.

Our aim is to equip the student as soon as possible to defend themselves against the most common attacks. Once the student has mastered these techniques more difficult scenarios are addressed to build a support system that will enable the student to deal with almost any situation. By teaching concepts through techniques students are taught how to read a situation and react/respond accordingly, even if they’ve not experienced the exact same thing in training. Giving students the ability to improvise is an important element of our training.
